Terms of Service

By accessing and using CloakBin ("Service"), you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our Service.

CloakBin is a zero-knowledge encrypted pastebin service. We provide a platform for users to share text and code snippets with end-to-end encryption. Due to our encryption architecture:

• We cannot access or decrypt your pastes
• We cannot recover lost encryption keys or passwords
• We cannot verify the content of encrypted pastes

You agree NOT to use CloakBin for:

• Illegal activities or content prohibited by law
• Sharing malware, viruses, or malicious code
• Harassment, threats, or abusive content
• Copyright infringement or pirated content
• Child sexual abuse material (CSAM)
• Spam, phishing, or scam content
• Personal information of others without consent (doxxing)
• Content that violates third-party rights

While we cannot read encrypted pastes, reported abuse will be investigated and may result in paste removal and account termination.

You are responsible for:

• The content you post to CloakBin
• Safeguarding your encryption keys and passwords
• Sharing paste links only with intended recipients
• Understanding that deleted pastes cannot be recovered
• Complying with all applicable laws in your jurisdiction

Pastes are automatically deleted:

• After the expiration time you selected (1 hour, 24 hours, 7 days, etc.)
• Immediately after viewing if "Burn After Read" was enabled
• After 45 days of inactivity (no views) for anonymous pastes
• After 90 days of inactivity (no views) for free account pastes

Premium accounts receive extended paste retention and are not subject to inactivity-based auto-deletion while the subscription remains active. Retention policies are subject to the Fair Use Policy and may be revised in accordance with Section 9.

CloakBin is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. All service descriptions, feature specifications, and capacity figures (including paste size limits, storage quotas, and retention periods) are approximate, provided for general guidance only, and do not constitute binding guarantees of specific performance.

We are not liable for:

• Lost or deleted pastes
• Unauthorized access to pastes via shared links
• Service downtime or data loss
• Content posted by users
• Damages resulting from use of our Service
• Changes to service features, limits, or pricing made in accordance with these Terms

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall CloakBin's total liability exceed the amounts paid by you to CloakBin in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

If you believe content violates your copyright or other rights, please submit a takedown request following our DMCA Policy.

We will remove pastes that are reported and verified to violate these terms, even though we cannot view their contents.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. Repeated abuse reports or illegal activity will result in permanent ban.

We reserve the right, at our sole and absolute discretion, to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without prior notice and with or without cause. This includes, without limitation, changes to: service features and functionality; usage limits and capacity thresholds (such as maximum paste size, storage quotas, and API rate limits); pricing and subscription plan structure; data retention policies; and any other aspect of the Service.

While we may, at our discretion, make commercially reasonable efforts to notify users of significant changes, we are under no obligation to do so. Any such notification is provided as a courtesy and does not create a binding obligation to provide notice of future changes.

If you do not agree to any modification, your sole and exclusive remedy is to discontinue use of the Service and cancel your subscription. Continued use of the Service following any change constitutes your irrevocable acceptance of the modified terms. No refunds, credits, or other compensation shall be owed for changes made in accordance with this section.

We may update these Terms of Service at any time. Your continued use of the Service following any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

Nothing in these Terms obligates CloakBin to maintain any specific feature, capacity, pricing, or service level for any period of time. All service descriptions on this website and in marketing materials are subject to change without notice.

All service limits — including but not limited to paste size, storage quotas, API rate limits, and retention periods — are approximate, subject to fair use, and may be increased, decreased, or otherwise modified at any time at our sole discretion without prior notice. Published limits represent current operational targets and do not constitute guaranteed minimums or binding commitments. We reserve the right to impose new limits or modify existing limits as necessary to maintain service quality, performance, and sustainability.

Usage that we reasonably determine to be abusive may result in temporary throttling or account restrictions. Examples of abusive usage include, but are not limited to:

• Excessive storage consumption disproportionate to normal use
• Automated bulk creation of pastes (outside of documented API usage)
• Using the Service as a general-purpose file hosting or CDN
• Circumventing rate limits or other technical safeguards

We will make reasonable efforts to contact affected users before taking action, except in cases that threaten service stability.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where CloakBin operates. Disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration.
